Ukraine customs officers seize over five tonnes of hashish
Ukrainian customs officers have confiscated 5.7 tonnes of hashish in the largest drug seizure since the republic became independent six years ago. Interfax news agency said the hashish was found in a truck travelling from the southern Ukrainian sea port of Odessa to Prague. It was hidden in a consignment of flooring materials. Border guards said its value was still being assessed but was likely to reach several tens of millions of dollars. The cargo arrived in Odessa from Uganda and was destined for a private Czech firm, Interfax said.
