Mexican ruling party seeks improved image

Mexico's ruling party, the PRI has sent a delegation on a mission to Europe to try to counteract the poor image of Mexico created by the massacre of forty-five indigenous peasants last month.

The PRI members will visit France and Spain, and hold talks with European Union officials in Brussels.

Mexico and the EU signed a trade agreement in December, and there have been moves in the European Parliament to delay its ratification because of the massacre.

The killings were carried out by paramilitary gunmen with links to the PRI.
