Bus bomb in Algiers

Two bombs have exploded in Algeria, killing a total of at least four people.

One person was killed and ten were seriously injured when a bomb exploded on a bus in a crowded area of Algiers.

A second bomb in Zeralda, west of the capital, killed three people and injured thirty.

Algerian newspapers said several similar bomb attempts had earlier been foiled by police.

They blamed Islamic militants for the attacks, which they said were aimed at embarrassing the government during a visit by senior officials from the European Union.
