Girls get to see Goya
Spanish monks have eased a 900 year ban on women entering their monastery outside Zaragoza, which had prevented them from seeing frescoes painted by Goya. The monks have accepted a local government proposal to build a special entrance which will allow women into the building without being seen by the monks. Until now, only three women -- including a member of the royal family - have seen the frescoes. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
