Labour urge Tory donation statement

Britain's governing Labour Party has called on the main opposition Conservatives to make a public statement following claims that they received a donation of one-million pounds from the family of an alleged drug smuggler, Ma Sik-Chun.

The family say in the paper they own in Hong Kong , the Oriental Daily News, that they now want the money back.

Ma Sik-Chun fled to Taiwan in 1978 after what the family say were false accusations of drug smuggling.

They say they hoped the donation to Britain's governing conservatives in 1994 would help smooth their relative's return to Hongkong.

The conservatives do not deny they received the money, but say they did nothing wrong
