Ecuador and Peru sign joint accord on border dispute
Ecuador and Peru have signed a joint accord aimed at ending a long-standingborder dispute, which led to a brief war three years ago. Representatives from both countries say they're establishing working groups to examine areas such as defining the frontier, navigation rights on the Amazon, a duty-free trade deal and joint security measures. Talks between the two countries, taking place in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro, are being mediated by the host country, the United States, Argentina and Chile.
