Baluchistan fears financial crisis
The government in the western Pakistani province of Baluchistan says it faces a financial crisis if the central government does not release money owing to it. The province has formed a cross party committee to pressure central government into paying gas royalties that Baluchistan says it is owed. The province also wants more representation at the centre. The federal government says that funds for Baluchistan have decreased because huge amounts of money have been spent on Pakistan's Oil and Gas Development Corporation. But Baluchistan says the benefit of that money has gone to other provinces. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
