Kyrgyz hunters losing battle against wolves

The hunters association in Kyrgyzstan has complained of a lack of money to control the growing population of wolves.

A deputy head of the organisation Anatoly Kiryanov was quoted by a local newspaper as saying that the number of wolves had increased and they were attacking livestock.

He said his organisation used to keep wolves down by shooting and poisoning them, but had no money to do it now.

He said the government set up rewards last year for each wolf killed, but failed to specify who was to provide the money.
