Massacre reports in Rwanda

Hutu rebels in Rwanda have attacked a bus carrying brewery workers in the northwestern town of Gisenyi.

First reports indicate many people were killed; the Rwanda news agency puts the number of deaths at thirty-five, though other reports suggest the figure may be much higher.

Eyewitnesses said the bus was ambushed by the rebels, who then ordered ethnic Tutsis to be separated from Hutu passengers.

When they refused, the rebels are said to have opened fire indiscriminately.
