Mali schools to reopen
Officials in Mali say the government has agreed to allow schools across the country to reopen, more than a week after they were closed following violence at student demonstrations. The government decision follows a meeting yesterday Saturday in the capital, Bamako, between officials and student leaders at which the students agreed to stop their protests for the time being. The students had been protesting about government funding for the education system. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
