Pakistani PM in court

The Supreme Court in Pakistan has begun hearing several contempt of court cases, including one against the Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif.

He's been accused of making derogatory remarks about the former chief justice and the Supreme Court itself, and could be disqualified from office if found guilty.

One of the other contempt cases is against the opposition leader, Benazir Bhutto.

The BBC correspondent in Islamabad says the Supreme Court appears to have grouped the different cases together to try to reach a definition about what constitutes contempt of court.
