Two more killings in northern Ireland

The recent upsurge in sectarian violence in northern Ireland has continued with two more shootings in the province.

The latest victim, the Catholic manager of a Belfast taxi firm, died after gunmen shot him in his vehicle.

A few hours earlier, a Protestant shopkeeper was shot dead by a republican paramilitary group, which is opposed to the peace process.

The British minister for northern Ireland Mo Mowlam called on all parties to redouble their efforts to find a way forward for the peace process.

Correspondents say the violence underlines fears that this process is in serious danger.

There've now been seven sectarian murders in northern Ireland in recent weeks.
