Japan bribery allegations
A former employee of the Japanese Finance Ministry has been arrested on suspicion of receiving bribes from the country's biggest brokerage, Nomura. He's being questioned in Tokyo, along with two employees of the firm. They are alleged to have been involved in a scheme to get Nomura involved in lucrative government construction projects. Nomura has only recently been allowed to resume full operations after a previous scandal involving payoffs to a racketeer. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
