Afghan money-changers warned

Money changers in Taleban-controlled areas of Afghanistan have been told that their businesses will be subject to daily price-fixing by the authorities, in an effort to stamp out speculation.

A radio broadcast said the central bank would announce the rate for the purchase and sale of currencies.

In a package of measures aimed at giving the Taleban greater financial control, Kabul's main money market has been temporarily closed to enable all traders to get licensed.
