India has won the Independence Cup in the three-nation tournament in Dhaka, Bangladesh, after beating Pakistan by three wickets.
Chasing Pakistan's total of 314 runs, India scored 316 for seven with just one delivery to spare.
The match was interrupted twice for nearly 50 minutes because of poor light.
The left-hander Saurav Ganguly led India's charge with a superb 124,
sharing a first wicket stand of 71 in 8.2 overs with Sachin Tendulkar.
India's 316-7 was the highest score made by a team to win a one-day
international, surpassing Sri Lanka's 313 against Zimbabwe during the 1992 World
Cup.
The light deteriorated in the closing stages of the match even though the
organisers had switched on the floodlights.
The umpires Rudi Koertzen of South Africa and Russell Tiffin of Zimbabwe, whose earlier request to suspend play was turned down by the Indians, walked off the field with the Pakistanis in tow in the 40th over with India on 258-2 and still behind on the run-rate.
But the Indian captain, Mohammad Azharuddin, preferred to stay at the wicket with his partner Ganguly.
The match referee, Mike Denness, a former England Test captain, ordered the umpires and the Pakistanis back on the field with a changed white ball which was clearly more visible.
