Brazil explains organ donations
The Brazilian government has launched a public information campaign to explain the benefits of a new law on organ donations which says that all Brazilians are donors unless they register their opposition. The government says it's establishing a single national waiting list for donated organs. The campaign highlights the lack of available organs. The Brazilian Medical Council, for one, has criticised the new legislation because it fears patients at private hospitals might be getting easier access to organs. Some people say they do not trust doctors to wait until they are dead to collect the donation. There are also religions which do not allow organ transplants.
