100 injured in Polish football riots

More than one-hundred people have been injured in fighting between rival football supporters in the southern Polish city of Katowice.

About fifty fans were taken to hospital, some of them with serious head injuries.

The fighting broke out just a few minutes into a match between the neighbouring teams GKS Katowice and Gornik Zabrze. The clashes came a week after several nights of rioting in the northern Polish town of Slupsk, sparked by protests at the death of a young basketball fan.
