Tajik government and opposition still in dispute

The government in Tajikistan and the Islamic opposition have again accused each other of violating the June peace agreement, which ended five years of civil war.

The Tajik president, Imomali Rakhmonov, presented a list of the government's grievances to the international contact group which oversees the implementation of the agreement.

But a presidential spokesman said Mr Rakhmonov had reiterated his support for the peace process.

The opposition leader, Said Abdullo Nuri, told a news conference that its participation in the National Reconciliation Commission would remain suspended until its demands were met by the government.
