Two Uzbek radio stations cut off air
The authorities in Uzbekistan have cut off the broadcasting of two of the few independent, commercial radio stations in the country. The stations, Grant and Europe Plus, were set up at the beginning of last year in the capital, Tashkent, to broadcast mainly popular music. Last month the state media committee complained to the Communications Ministry that the stations were not registered by the Uzbek State Television and Radio Committee.
