Japanese nuclear power plant shut down due to rise in radioactivity.RADIO H/L: A Japanese nuclear power plant has been shut down after a rise in the level of radiocativity in one of its reactors

A Japanese nuclear power plant has been shut down after a rise in the level of radiocativity in one of its reactors.

The plant operator, the Tokyo Electric Power Company, said it would investigate any possible leak of nuclear fuel at the Kashiwazaki Kariba plant on the Sea of Japan coast.

It said that so far, no increase in radiation had been detected outside the facility.

There has been a series of accidents in Japan's nuclear industry and official investigations have revealed a history of concealment of radiation leaks.
