Pizza chain creates 1,000 jobs

City Centre Restaurants, which owns the Deep Pan Pizza and Garfunkels chains, is about to create 1,000 full time jobs by opening 50 more outlets.

The company has already earmarked 48 sites for expansion and aims to have all the restaurants open by December.

City Centre Restaurants - CCR - plans to open more of its Caffe Uno, and Frankie & Benny's outlets in high streets and leisure centres across the country.

Final planning permission has not yet been granted for the developments, so the exact locations of the outlets have not yet been disclosed.

Although CCR is expanding the newer restaurant chains, it may cut back on Deep Pan Pizza outlets, which performed poorly last year.

CCR said that high street restaurants like Deep Pan Pizza have suffered from the increasing number of take-away and supermarket rivals.
