El Salvador and Honduras to solve border dispute

The governments of Honduras and El Salvador have agreed to demarcate the disputed border area between the two countries within a year.

The agreement is due to be finalised next Monday, when the presidents of the two countries are to sign an accord which will also cover issues of property rights and nationality.

In 1992, the International Court of Justice in The Hague passed a ruling which left thousands on Salvadoreans on land assigned to Honduras and at least a thousand Hondurans in Salvadorean territory.
