Former Indian PM dies at 99

A former Prime Minister of India, Gulzarilal Nanda, has died after a prolonged illness.

Mr Nanda, who was ninety-nine, was briefly India's caretaker prime minister twice, in 1964 and 1966.

He died at his home in the western city of Ahmedabad, where he had retired.

Mr Nanda is to be given a state funeral on Friday, the first of three days of state mourning declared by the government.
