Ivory Coast rail workers go on strike
Railway workers on the line between the Ivory Coast and Burkina Fasso have gone on strike for an indefinite period, in support of a demand for better salaries and pensions. They are also calling for the resignation of the head of Citarail, the private company in charge of the line between Abidjan and Kaya. The company said only a small number out of nearly two thousand employees were on strike, and they faced dismissal. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
