Sheffield United striker Brian Deane is set for talks with Benfica boss Graeme Souness about
a £1m move, according to reports in Portugal.
He is the latest target for Souness, who recently
failed with a bid for Arsenal's Ian Wright.
Deane rejoined the Blades from Leeds for £1m last summer after spending four seasons at Elland Road. He had moved to Leeds for £2.9m in 1993.
This season he has scored 13 goals as Sheffield United bid for promotion to the Premier League.
Any deal must be completed before the Portguese transfer deadline on Thursday evening.
Former Liverpool and Rangers favourite Souness took over at Benfica earlier this season after a brief and unhappy reign at Torino in Italy.
