New political party in Belgium

The father of one of the paedophile victims in Belgium has set up his ownpolitical party, which he says will defend the vulnerable and attack corruption.

Paul Marchal, whose daughter was one of four young girls killed by a paedophile, said he had lost confidence in Belgium's traditional politicians and had decided to form the Party for a New Politics, which he described as a party of morality.

Correspondents say paedophile victims in Belgium had warned a year ago, that they would set up a new party, if the government did not take urgent action to deal with child sex crimes.

An opinion poll has predicted that nearly ten per cent of Belgians, from both French and Dutch speaking regions, would vote for the new party
