German submarine crew lose Playboy libel suit

The crew of a German submarine have lost a libel suit against the German edition of Playboy magazine which they alleged had unfairly portrayed them as drunk while on duty and obsessed with sex.

A journalist and a photographer had been allowed to spend a week on board the vessel during a voyage to Sweden.

The court ruled that all on board should have been aware of the reporters' presence.
