A Czech airport official says a twin-engined passenger plane has crashed in thick fog near Brno airport in the Czech Republic.

The plane a Czech built L410 Turbolet aircraft owned by a Polish company, was on a special flight from Gomel in Belarus to Kunovice, two hundred kilometres east of Prague.

A police official in Brno said two crew members had died in the wreckage of the twenty seater plane.
