Moroccan building collapses, killing seventeen

Officials in Morocco say at least seventeen people died when an apartment building collapsed in the city of Fez.

The authorities said the building, located in a poor district, was constructed in illegal conditions ten years ago.

The city had ordered an evacuation when large cracks appeared on the wall, but some residents refused to leave.
