Does the Queen's new portrait improve her image?

Part of the Queen's new portrait.

The Queen's new portrait has been described by the artist as "fresh and funky".

Justin Mortimer, 27, has said he wanted to convey "serenity and majesty", but he has also said he knows that "some critics will not let you win."

Her Majesty's throne has been reduced to a black outline that art experts have said makes her appear more "democratic" - in line with the more populist approach taken by the Royal family after Diana, Princess of Wales' death.

A recent Talking Point asked you "Should the Queen be accountable?" Many of you expressed the feeling that the monarchy was out of date. You can read your response here. Will this view of the monarchy update their appeal?
