UN says Sudanese refugee shot dead in Ethiopia

The United Nations refugee agency has expressed concern over reports that Ethiopian police shot dead a Sudanese refugee and wounded another in the capital, Addis Ababa.

The clashes reportedly happened during an operation to move around 1,500 refugees to a camp on the border with Sudan.

The agency said police opened fire after being stoned by refugees, who were unwilling to be moved during the operation last Friday.

The official Ethiopian news agency said the refugees were being relocated because the UN could not help them.

But it made no mention of casualties.
