Chinese migrant worker blows himself up in Beijing

The Chinese authorities say a migrant worker killed himself and at least two other people when he blew up a homemade bomb in central Beijing.

Six other people were injured when the migrant worker - a farmer from the central province of Henan - detonated the bomb in his small rented room on Monday.

Correspondents say tens of millions of migrants have crowded into Chinese cities, finding jobs as rubbish collectors, peddlers and construction workers.

The authorities said an explosion outside the Chinese leadership compound in Beijing last May was caused by an unemployed migrant worker who blew himself up.
