Gay community's rally against serial killer

A small group of Italian gay activists have held a candle-lit vigil in Rome to remember a man who was murdered last week and who they say may be the latest victim of a serial killer targetting gay men.

The dead man was bludgeoned to death in his home.

Since 1990 there have been twenty previous suspected gay killings in and around Rome, of which eight have been solved.

The BBC correspondent in Rome says gay men have accused the authorities of not pursuing the cases vigorously.

But the police say there's no evidence a serial killer is at work.
