New Czech elections in June

Elections are to be held in the Czech Republic in June to find a successor to the current caretaker government.

A complex deal involving parliamentary votes of confidence was agreed by the main political parties after weekend talks failed to agree on a constitutional way of holding early elections.

The government of the caretaker Prime Minister, Josef Tosovsky -- a former head of the Czech Central Bank -- took over at the new year after a scandal over party funding forced the collapse of the administration of Vaclav Klaus.

Reports from Prague say parliament will be dissolved in April for the elections on June the nineteenth.
