Senior US officials to restore confidence in Asian markets
Mr Summers held talks with the Prime Minister of Singapore, Goh Chok Tong. Earlier, Mr Summers said he would consult with the countries of the region on economic policy on behalf of President Clinton. Meanwhile, the United States Defence Secretary William Cohen -- who's also visiting southeast Asia -- said he did not expect the financial crisis to lead to civil unrest.
