Israel's demands on Palestinians

The Israeli cabinet has met to discuss a list of demands to be presented to the Palestinians as preconditions for further transfers of West Bank land to the Palestinian Authority.

Reports say the demands include the extradition of Palestinians wanted in Israel, disarming of militant groups and reducing the size of the Palestinian police force.

The Prime Minister, Binyamin Netanyahu said after the meeting that threats of renewed Palestinian violence and unrest will not speed up the evacuation of further portions of the West Bank.

The Palestinian Cabinet said on Friday that the policy of delays in withdrawal of Israeli troops had brought the region to the brink of disaster.

Meanwhile, Israel's security forces have spent Sunday on high alert after intelligence reports of a possible suicide bomb attack by Islamic militants.

Two suicide bombings in Jerusalem last July and September killed 21 Israelis.
