Sunday, January 11, 1998 Published at 12:53 GMT UK Diana burial papers released to quell rumours Authorities confirm that Diana is buried on the island at Althorp
The burial certificate of Diana, Princess of Wales has been made public to prove that she is buried on the island at her family's estate at Althorp.
The Bishop of Peterborough allowed the paper to be release to scotch conspiracy theories that the Princess was laid to rest in the Spencer family crypt in the parish church of St Mary the Virgin, in nearby Great Brington, Northants.
"What I think happened is that people came into the church, saw the fresh cement, put two and two together and made about 840," said the spokesman.
The Rev David MacPherson, vicar of Great Brington, said in a newspaper interview:
"I knew these rumours were circulating and they are completely untrue ... People live on conspiracy theories.
"The truth is often much simpler."
