Arab League envoy to Algeria
The information minister of the Arab League, Mohab Moqbel, who is to go to Algeria tomorrow, has said he will express the League's solidarity with the Algerian government in the face of the spate of massacres. But Mr Moqbel told the BBC that the Arab League was not prepared to offer any mediation in the Algerian conflict. He expressed the view that the insurgency in Algeria was supported from abroad. Mr Moqbel criticised countries which he said gave asylum to terrorists. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
