Shooting in Belfast
There's been another shooting incident in Northern Ireland. A doorman has been killed at a discotheque in Belfast when gunmen stopped outside the club and opened fire. Police are so far unable to say whether the shooting had a sectarian motive. But a BBC Correspondent in Belfast says the shooting is similar to recent attacks by Protestant paramilitary gunmen. It comes on the day that a Protestant party, the Progressive Unionists -- which represents the views of one paramilitary group -- is to decide whether to withdraw from multi-party talks which begin again on Monday. The group has objected to British government concessions to the mainly Roman Catholic republican parties. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
