Bangladesh ready to extradite ULFA leader
The Bangladeshi Foreign Minister, Abdus Samad Azad, has said that his government is ready to consider any request from India for the extradition of a leader of a separatist group operating in the north-east Indian state of Assam. Mr Azad told the BBC that Bangladesh would not allow itself to be used as a base for any separatist activities in India. Bangladeshi police last month arrested Golap Barua who's also known as Anup Chetia, one of the leaders of the outlawed United Liberation Front of Assam ULFA, for entering Bangladesh on a false passport. Two of his associates were also detained. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
