Nicaraguan president's speech disrupted by Sandinistas

Sandinista deputies in the Nicaraguan parliament have disrupted the annual televised address by Nicaraguan President, Arnoldo Aleman.

The left-wing deputies shouted at the President, banged desktops and waved banners in what correspondents described as a unprecedented spectacle, which lasted an hour.

The Sandinista deputies were reported to be angry that Mr Aleman's Liberal Party had refused to concede any positions to Sandinistas during elections for parliamentary officials.
