The badly-burned baby whose parents took her from hospital in Essex is now back being treated by doctors there.

The police say Philomena McDonagh has now been returned to St Andrew's Hospital in Billericay and is undergoing examinations.

Philomena disappeared from the hospital on Friday night. It was later established that her parents took a ferry to Ireland.

Doctors feared that without medical attention, the child could have been at risk of serious infection.

Detective Superintendant Steve Reynolds from Billericay police assured the parents that no offence had occurred but they were concerned for the baby's health.

Earlier, the consultant that treated her at St Andrew's Hospital, Chris Walker said: "I understand she is in no immediate danger as the dressings need to be changed every few days."

"If her parents don't bring her back here then we would urge them to take her to some other health centre or hospital to get the care and attention she needs."
