Quakes shake Guatemala and El Salvador

Two earthquakes have shaken the highlands of the central American country of Guatemala, injuring at least ten people, damaging houses, and causing power cuts.

The head of the country's seismology institute , Eddy Sanchez, said no one was killed, even though a family was buried under the rubble of a collapsed house in Quetzaltenango, the city hardest-hit by the earthquake.

Several roads have been blocked by landslides set off by the tremors.

The quake was also felt in neighbouring El Salvador, where humanitarian organisations reported some injuries, but no damage.
