Bahrain blames Britain

Bahrain has accused Britain of providing refuge for subversive exiles.

The foreign minister, Sheik Mohammad ibn Mubarak al-Khalifa, was quoted as saying Bahrain would demand their extradition.

Eight members of the Bahraini opposition -- five of whom live in Britain -- were sentenced in absentia last November for trying to overthrow the government.

Arab interior ministers have called on Britain and other countries to take action against Islamic militants they believe are involved in fomenting sedition.

The British government is considering action to stop people using Britain as a base for attacks abroad.
