Cholera epidemic in Kenya
The Kenyan authorities say a cholera epidemic has spread to areas in the north and south of the country. Health officials say nine people have died in Machakos, about fifty kilometres south-east of the capital Nairobi, where public eating places have been closed down to contain the disease. Five people also died from cholera in the northern Moyale district last week, and twenty-five others have been admitted to hospital. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
