The Labour MP for Clydesdale, Jimmy Hood, was "improving" in hospital after suffering a massive heart attack on Saturday.
A statement from his constituency said doctors at Crosshouse Hospital in
Kilmarnock were pleased with his progress and his condition had improved.
He remained in a "serious but stable" condition in the hospital's intensive
and coronary care unit after having a "restless night".
His constituency said he had attended a memorial dinner in the town on Friday night in honour of former MP Willie McKelvie.
A spokesman for the national Labour Party said: "Our thoughts are with him and his family. We hope that he will recover and continue to serve his
constituency."
