Israelis clash with Palestinians in Hebron

Palestinian demonstrators and Israeli soldiers have clashed for several hours in the divided West Bank city of Hebron.

Hundreds of Palestinian youths threw stones and bottles at Israeli soldiers along the line separating the small Israeli enclave from the rest of Palestinian-governed Hebron.

The soldiers fired rubber bullets and percussion grenades.

Several demonstrators and one Israeli border policeman were injured.

Reports say the disturbance started when local people tried to intervene in an argument between members of the Palestinian police and the Palestinian security service.
