Karpov retains chess title
The Russian chess player, Anatoly Karpov, has again won the World Chess Federation Championship. He beat India's highest ranked player, Vishwanathan Anand, in the final match lasting under two hours - winning two tie-breaker games outright. One chess expert says Anand did not play his best and appeared to crumble under pressure, leaving Karpov the winner with over $1m in prize money. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
