War Crimes Tribunal urges officers to surrender
The international war crimes tribunal in The Hague has urged three former Yugoslav army officers, charged for their alleged role in a massacre near the Croatian town of Vukovar in 1991, to surrender themselves for trial. The trial against a fourth men indicted on the same grounds is to start later this month. The three officers believed to be still living in Yugoslavia cannot be tried in their absence. Prosecutors say that under the command of the three officers, two-hundred Croats and other non-Serbs were taken from a hospital in Vukovar and killed by former Yugoslav soldiers and Serb paramilitaries.
