Top Congo-Brazzaville military ends visit to Angola

A top-level military delegation of the armed forces of Congo-Brazzaville has ended a three-day visit to Angola with an agreement to reinforce military cooperation between the two countries.

It is the first such trip since October, when five-thousand Angolan troops helped General Denis Sassou Nguesso seize power in Congo.

A BBC correspondent in Angola says about fifteen-hundred Angolan soldiers are still in Congo: the delegation's visit appears to be designed to speed their withdrawal.

Later, Angolan military experts will be sent to train the Congolese armed forces.

Our correspondent says the seniority of the Congolese delegation indicates the value Brazzaville places on relations with Angola.
